getting consumers to use iphone apps

I was travelling with Denise recently to France. I saw this interesting use of iphone applications and blue tooth technology used in Museums.

they had this free-standing banner and visitors were queuing to download content and the application. As much as I liked the idea, the content was pretty bad. One video in French – so what?

However, it got me thinking that instead of having audio devices for walk throughs, these could become applications, and using bluetooth, visitors could get more back ground / video on the artists to give the exhibition greater context.

Take a look at this presentation I did up on how property developers and museums can use this technology to increase engagement.

The banner featured here translates as:

  1. Activate the bluetooth function on your mobile phone.
  2. Position your mobile phone within 3cm of the logo
  3. Accept the download (you may then move your phone away from the logo)
  4. Once you have received the file, open it in ‘videos’ or ‘received files’
